  1. Follow the Golden Rule: "Do unto others as you would have
    them do unto you."
  2. Follow directions the first time they are given.
  3. Keep hands, feet, objects, and insults to yourself.
  4. Use appropriate language.
  5. Interact appropriately during all class activities.

General Policies

  1. Come prepared to class everyday. Bring your Geometry book, notebook, and a writing instrument with you to class every day.
All passes will result in a two-minute detention after class. Students must have their planner to leave class.
  2. Keep your work area clean. Desks and floors should remain clean.
  3. No food or drink is allowed in the classroom.
  4. Tardies will result in detentions after the second occurrence.

2nd tardy = half hour detention with Mr. Sheltrown
3rd tardy = detention with Administration
    4th tardy = Saturday school
  5. Students who cheat or allow cheating will not receive credit for the assignment.

Grading Policies

Homework, tests, quizzes, and projects will be graded on a straight point system. Each chapter will have a quiz, test, and project.

Semester grades will be determined by the following equation:

x = first nine weeks grade

y = second nine weeks grade

z = semester exam grade

Important Note: If you fail either one of the nine weeks or the semester exam, then you must earn a C- or better in the other two in order to pass.

Example:

1st marking period: D 2nd marking period: D exam grade: D Final grade: D

1st marking period: A 2nd marking period: E exam grade: D Final grade: E

Test Retake Policy: Students who complete all of their homework and also complete a corrective cycle are eligible to retake tests that they score under 70%. Maximum score on all retakes is 70%.

Late Work: Any work not completed by the beginning of class of the day that it is due is considered late. If late work is turned in by the next class period, the student can receive up to 50% off. Any work turned in later than one class period will be graded, but given no credit.

The Room

We have been blessed with a terrific, first-rate facility. It is the commitment of the staff of BCHS to maintain this building. Any student who purposefully destroys any part of this classroom will be referred directly to the administration of BCHS.

Students are not to touch the CRMS station or any of its components (touch screen monitor, mouse, printer, keyboard) without the teacher’s permission. Students who violate this policy will serve a detention after school.

The Arrangement

This course is dependent on you working hard everyday and keeping a positive attitude. I will do my best to make this course challenging, enjoyable, and interesting. If we both do our jobs, we are going to have a great year.

Day-to-Day Information

Each day in class you and I will engage in a wide variety of activities including lecture, group work, projects, Geometer’s Sketchpad, and individual work. During the course of each chapter, you will have one chapter test, at least one quiz, a homework quiz, homework checks, and a chapter project.

Videotaping

Students may be videotaped at various points during the academic year for both educational and disciplinary reasons.
